Air Dispersion Modeller

Job Type: Full Time

Experience: 3 years minimum experience

We are seeking an Air Dispersion Modeller specialist to join our Modelling Support team. The candidate will be responsible for providing our clients with technical support for our software products. In addition to responding to client calls and e-mails, the candidate will assist in improving software quality through testing and debugging, and will also work on assignments such as air dispersion modeling projects, meteorological processing, and more.

Lakes Environmental is committed to developing robust and easy-to-use, state-of-the-art GIS based software systems for several environmental related areas such as air pollution modeling, human health and ecological risk assessment, and emissions inventory. Our software systems are used worldwide by government, academia, and consultants. We promote a culture based on innovation, respect, continuous improvement, and learning.

For this position we require:

  • Completion of a university engineering degree or related field
  • At least 3 years air dispersion modelling consulting experience
  • Good knowledge with AERMOD and CALPUFF air dispersion models
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and work well under pressure
  • Experience dealing with clients
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Good verbal presentation skills
  • Strong desire to learn new modeling techniques

Desirable qualifications considered an asset:

  • Masters in Science or Engineering, where an environmental focus is preferred.
  • While this is not a consulting position, years of actual consulting work is a desirable qualification.
  • Solid working knowledge of computers, including operating systems and a basic understanding of programming.

The successful candidate will support Lakes Environmental in various projects including:

  • Real-time air dispersion modelling modelling
  • Correcting AERMOD ViewTM and CALPUFF ViewTM client models
  • On phone and email tech support for our clients
  • On the job training on emissions inventory and emergency software
  • Testing new ADM software and support writing technical guidance
  • Creating technical documents for air dispersion modelling and emissions inventory
  • Potentially supporting training courses

Software Developer

Job Type: Full Time

Experience: 3 to 5 years

Lakes Environmental is always accepting resumes for a software developer that will be responsible for creating and maintaining software applications built on the .NET framework. Activities include building and modifying software applications, producing internal documentation, and providing technical solutions to client issues.

For this position we require three to five years working experience in a developer role and a University degree in Computer Science and 2 years of experience developing applications in C#. Previous experience working with code generation, databases (MS SQL or Oracle) and a well established working knowledge of web applications and application frameworks. An ability to demonstrate logical thinking, problem solving skills and working under time pressure is important.
