Projects:
Cumulative
Risk Pilot Project
Client: Tetra Tech EMI - Dallas, TX
Location: U.S. EPA Region 6
Period: 1999-Present
We
provided technical support and final review for the Regional Air
Impact Modeling Initiative (RAIMI), as a sub-contractor to Tetra Tech
EMI, for the Multimedia Planning & Permitting Division of the
U.S. EPA Region 6. The first phase of this project was a pilot area in Texas,
which included over 150 sources across an area of approximately 200
square kilometers (Beaumont-Port Arthur).

As
part of the Cumulative Risk Pilot Project, our team developed
a methodology to account for air modeling site parameters.
In this task the team had to catalogue and correct toxics
emissions data (TRI) location, land use data (LULC), maps, and census
data for the entire State of Texas.
This methodology was implemented into a GIS interface and it
is currently under beta testing.
The
success of this project demanded:
-
Expertise
in statewide GIS development, including correcting spatial data;
-
Deep
knowledge of handling statewide toxic emissions (EPA databases);
-
Ability
to extend ESRI tools.
