| 13th INTERNATIONAL EMISSION INVENTORY CONFERENCE |
| June 7-10, 2004 | Clearwater, Florida
This year's conference is entitled "Working for Clean Air in Clearwater". The meetings will highlight toxic air pollutant emissions and effects by featuring a plenary session discussion on mercury deposition and a technical session devoted to deposition of toxic and criteria pollutants. Mr. Stephen Koo will be presenting a technical paper entitled "Emissions Inventory for Large-Scale Risk Assessments".

| NEW ICE AGE IN THE MIDST OF GLOBAL WARMING? |
| Every now and then the notion resurfaces that the influx of warm water to the Norwegian Sea might stop and lead to a catastrophic worsening of the climate in Norway and the Nordic countries. As recently as March this year, the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation aired a BBC program called The Big Chill, which concluded that within the next 50 years global warming could bring about a new ice age. |

| PUTIN PROMISE TO RATIFY KYOTO |
| Russian President Vladimir Putin has surprised, delighted and confounded his critics by pledging to move quickly on ratification of the Kyoto climate change treaty. "We are in favour of the Kyoto process. We will rapidly move towards ratification of this Protocol," Mr Putin said. |

| EPA REFINES MOBILE SOURCE EMISSIONS ESTIMATE MODEL
|
| EPA has announced the availability and official approval of MOBILE6.2 for use in state implementation plans (SIPs) and transportation conformity analyses. The recent Federal Register notice establishes the two year period before Mobile6.2 is required in all transportation analyses.
